Bootstrap: Expressions + Equations

Bootstrap: Expressions and Equations, three-day summer workshop, equips teachers to integrate computer science concepts into math classrooms using the Bootstrap curriculum. Participants explore how programming and mathematical modeling can reinforce core math standards, such as Order of Operations, Algebraic Properties (Commutativity, Associativity, Distribution, Identity, Inverses, and more!), Exponents, Opposites and Absolute Values, Variables and Solving Equations.  This is a free,  integrated, modular curriculum in which students explore the laws of arithmetic while applying a lens of computational thinking to tackle common challenges faced in grades 4-9 math.

Teachers will experience lessons as learners, then unpack the underlying math and pedagogy. By the end of the workshop, participants will be prepared to implement the curriculum with confidence, connect coding to real-world problem-solving, and support all students in deepening their understanding of math through engaging, project-based learning.
