Computer Science Discoveries Workshop Information 

This workshop is a multi-day professional learning series scheduled for Summer 2026. Designed for both new and experienced computer science teachers, the program provides the tools and strategies needed to effectively implement  support meeting the Michigan high school computer science requirement. The curriculum is free and include all instructional resources needed to begin empowering students with computer science right away.  After attending the summer workshop, educators will feel confident to plan and instruct the flexible computer science modules at the middle and high school level.

With the flexible module format, Code.org's curriculum  will give you access to the free curriculum designed to introduce students to the foundational concepts of computer science. This introductory course empowers students to create authentic projects and engage with computer science as a medium for creativity, communication, problem-solving, and fun. With a diverse set of options available in CS Discoveries, there’s a course tailored to meet a wide range of classroom needs.

Code.org CS Curriculum
We will be exploring Code.org’s CSD Curriculum that costs nothing to teachers or school districts to access or utilize in their classroom. 

​Ready to Teach!
Lesson plans come with a teacher guide, lesson resources, online management system, and tutorial videos. Lessons are great for beginners and experienced teachers. 

Facilitated by Trained Code.org Facilitator
You will have the opportunity to go through activities as a learner and teacher to develop your own understanding and student empathy.

Code.org has seamless, secure, one-click integrations for most major 
LMS & SSO providers.

Course Description:   Code.org's most flexible course, allowing each unit to be taught alone, combined into collections that focus on specific areas, or as a full year course. The free curriculum introduces students to building their own websites, apps, animations, games, and physical computing systems.
