High-Quality Workshop

  • AP CSA, CS Discoveries, and Principles professional learning program offers year round support for teachers. 
  • 5-day summer workshop where you'll have an opportunity to work hands-on with the CS Principles or CS Discoveries curriculum and meet other teachers from your area. 
  • On-going support through the school year
  • AP CSA has two follow-up days after the implementation year.

Workshop is collaborative and allows educators to learn from each other.

Program Features

  • Teaching and Learning in Context - Participants engage with the curriculum both as instructors and as learners.
  • Cohesive Set of Resources - The workshop and curriculum flow seamlessly together, empowering teachers to deliver the course with confidence.
  • A Collaborative, Participant-Centric Approach - Teachers and facilitators will have the opportunity to share their expertise from the field, giving participants a chance to learn from everyone in the room.

Who Can Participate?

The CS Discoveries and CS Principles workshop is open to educators who are interested in teaching the Code.org courses. There is no prior computer science experience required to attend the workshops. After attending the five day Summer workshop, educators will feel confident to plan and instruct the courses. On-going workshops throughout the school year provides educators additional support on each unit.

Thank Grand Rapids Teachercon 2018 was made possible through a MiSTEM Advisory Council Grant. 

Thank you to West Michigan Tech Talent for hosting all 200 instructors at the Knickerbocker!

200+ Michigan teachers attended a 5-day workshop in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Each instructor will be teaching a computer science class in either middle school or high school. This event was one of the biggest local cs workshops in the nation.
